Melanie C, the star of the Spice Girls, will perform at the Deja Vu Festival in Szeged in June – the organizers informed MTI.
Melanie Chisholm, aka Melanie C – or Sporty Spice – became famous as a member of the most successful girl group of all time, the Spice Girls. With the world-famous formation – in two years – they released two consecutive number-one albums, nine world hits, the best-selling debut single and – in terms of girl groups – they had the best-selling album in the history of music. They have received five Brit Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards, three MTV Europe Music Awards and one MTV Video Music Award. In 2000, they became the youngest recipients of the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.
Melanie C started her solo career in 1998, her debut album, Northern Star, spanning pop, rock and dance music, sold four million copies worldwide and went triple platinum in the UK; two singles from the album, Never Be the Same Again and I Turn to You, were chart-topping hits. With eight solo albums behind her, she has a total of 41 silver, gold and platinum certifications as a solo artist. Melanie C has 14 UK chart-topping singles and is the only female artist to have charted solo, duo, quartet and quintet. In addition to her work as a singer, she is also the owner of a publishing house, an actor, a dancer, a jury member of talent shows and a writer.
On June 6-7-8, 2 Unlimited, Alcazar, the German dance formation ATC, Cascada, and DJ Antoine will come to the Újszeged Beach Bath for the Deja Vu Festival with hits from the 1990s. Edward Maya, who became world-famous with his song “Stereo Love”, the German singer with Trinidadian roots, Haddaway, O-Zone with the hit Dragostea Din Tei, and Rednex are coming.
