The University of Szeged (SZTE) is waiting for those interested with almost 400 interesting programs from various fields of science on Friday, the Night of the Researchers, the public relations directorate of the higher education institution informed MTI.
According to the announcement, around five hundred lecturers, researchers and students of SZTE will present their respective fields of study. From early afternoon until late at night, a series of lab visits, lectures, creative sessions, demonstrations, adventure tours, and workshops await those interested, some of which require prior registration. The selection of programs is also supported by the SZTE Researchers’ Night mobile application. The Albert Gellért Anatomy Museum of the university, the Sándor Koch Mineral Collection can be visited this evening, an interactive guided tour will be held in the archeology museum and the racing cars of the SZTE Faculty of Engineering will also be presented. In addition to the programs organized in the laboratories and lecture halls, there is also an open-air event for those interested, during an hour and a half bike ride they can learn about the past and present of Szeged’s economic development.
In addition to SZTE, the Szeged Biological Research Center also organizes programs: visitors can, among other things, print micromachines, learn about electromicroscopy methods, but also hear about the possibility of modeling human diseases with transgenic mice. In Hódmezővásárhely, the Faculty of Agriculture of the SZTE organizes programs where, among other things, those interested can test their knowledge on medicinal plant recognition, plant and insect knowledge tests, follow the stages of the preparation of a smaller bird, but also find out where the pollen comes from and where it goes. On this evening, the ELI ALPS Laser Research Institute in Szeged will also open its doors to the public. Guests can learn about the steps involved in becoming a researcher and user: they can take part in safety training on how to use the building’s equipment, they can take a look at the processes before the experiments are carried out, they can find out what measurements can be made with the laser equipment and they can even publish their work at the end.
